Home Depot and Dogfighting

Michael Vick shouldn't be on a football field and Americans need to stand up on principles. If the only way to make yourself heard is to avoid Home Depot, then do it.

Arthur Blank is the founder of Home Depot. He built the company, then let it die by putting Bob Nardelli in charge so that he could go off fulfill a boyhood dream of owning the Atlanta Falcons.

Arthur Blank is apparently still a very active participant in the Home Depot family. He is also a hands-on owner of the Atlanta Falcons.

Michael Vick is the quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons who has now been indicted by a Federal grand jury on charges of sponsoring dogfighting.

Recent opinion polls show that over 85% of Americans feel that Michael Vick should be suspend or inactivated by his team and by the NFL until (and unless) proven innocent. I share the view of the majority of Americans - no matter how talented the man is, it is an affront to let him play football while he awaits trial.

Yet, as the owner of the Falcons, Arthur Blank has decided that his pocketbook is more important than his principles. He has refused, with the NFLs support, to inactivate or suspend Michael Vick.

No matter how egregious you find the charges against him, we are all victims when Michael Vick is allowed to play football while awaiting trials - the reason is to get money out of us in one shape or form. I think that it is time that we stand up on principles - turn off the Falcons and avoid Home Depot for until Arthur Blank falls into line.

I don't think that Arthur Blank is still involved in Home Depot, and I don't think that boycotting HD is an appropriate way to vent your frustration. Avoiding football however is appropriate. Even though I grew up with baseball, I gave up watching it years ago when I realized what they were paying these overgrown, steroid-ridden children.

Let me guess - you work for Lowe's? Actually, after the Whole Foods debacle, maybe I should venture to guess that you are the CEO?

Usually in the US you are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Everything is still an allegation at this point. I believe Vick should be allowed to play until a verdict is reached.

I actually think that Arthur Blank handled the situation very well.

I really wish that you and your PETA friends would go back under the rock that you've crawled out from. I am no fan of Michael Vick's but the man is being hung out to dry by a bunch of people who put bulldogs on the same level as their own children. These are bulldogs and I don't think that they rank much more highly than rodents on the food chain.
